    What incoming students need to know when coming to the Czech Republic in 2021

    In the spring, the season of active preparation for admission to universities begins. One of the options for Belarusian graduates is to study abroad. With the onset of the pandemic, studying and admission have undergone some changes. We look into what you should pay attention to if the applicant's choice falls on a Czech university.

    We constantly update the information on the website — follow the updates or ask questions by calling the hotline 113, 8-801-201-5555. The call is free.

    How to study for free?

    Universities in the Czech Republic offer the opportunity to study for free provided you know the Czech language. Also, studies (for example, in Prague) are conducted in German or English. You can choose any, but remember that the opportunity for free education exists only in the Czech language.

    How to apply remotely?

    In 2020, entrance exams were held remotely, and the same format has been chosen this year due to the pandemic. There is quite a bit of information about remote entrance exams — it is best to look for it on the official websites of the university in the Czech language. Keep in mind: they have started accepting some specialties without exams, the list of these specialties can be viewed here.

    If you are applying based on your school leaving certificate score, you will need to confirm the certificate (make nostrification). It can be standard (offline) and internal — submission remotely at the university itself. An application for "internal" nostrification, for example, at the Higher School of Economics is submitted after submitting the application for admission. The deadline for submitting applications for admission to this educational institution ends on March 31, 2021.

    The set of documents for internal nostrification is the same as the set of documents for regular nostrification. You may also be asked to provide an accreditation certificate from high school.

    Steps for admission that can be done remotely in 2021:

    - apply to the university;

    - make nostrification (at the university itself);

    - pass the Czech language test and entrance exams (if required by the specialty) at the university.

    Experts advise starting preparation by learning the language (and preparing online and independently is much cheaper and quite realistic). If you know Czech, applying and doing nostrification will not be difficult. The visa will be issued after admission and enrollment in the 1st year. Please note that admission is now the only option for obtaining a visa to the Czech Republic.
