The Investigative Committee has completed the investigation of a criminal case against a 35-year-old individual entrepreneur accused of kidnapping a person for the purpose of labor exploitation.
According to the investigation, the accused forced a man to work on his household plot and take care of the animals, threatening him with physical violence.
The 30-year-old victim, having no regular income, started working part-time for the entrepreneur two years ago. After some time, the latter began forcing the man to come and work for him for free. The accused would come to the worker's home in a neighboring village, beat him, intimidate him, kidnap him several times, and forcefully bring him to his plot in the trunk of a car. Several times he kept him overnight in a barn with a metal chain and lock, beat him, and threatened him.
During searches at the accused's home, hunting smoothbore weapons with ammunition, small-caliber cartridges, and cans of gunpowder, as well as the victim's passport, were found.
Based on the investigation, the accused's actions were classified under several articles of the Criminal Code: intentional infliction of less serious bodily harm, use of slave labor, kidnapping, theft of a passport, and illegal actions involving ammunition and explosives.
The accused is in custody. The criminal case has been transferred to the prosecutor's office for submission to the court.
