Citizens of the republic who register a civil status act abroad will have to report this to Belarusian civil registry offices within six months.
Belarusians will be required to inform the civil registry offices of the republic about cases of registration of civil status acts outside the country, said Tatyana Sascheko, head of the department of notaries and civil registry offices of the Ministry of Justice, reports Sputnik.
"For the first time, the Code on Marriage and Family establishes the requirement to inform the civil registry offices of Belarus about cases of registration of civil status acts by Belarusians outside the country. If a marriage, birth or death of Belarusians has been registered in the competent authorities of a foreign country, they will be required to report this to the civil registry offices of Belarus within six months," she explained.
The procedure for processing such information and the requirements for it will be regulated at the level of a government decree, the corresponding document is already being developed.
Also, for the first time, a document will appear that will confirm the absence of obstacles to marriage registration outside the country.
"The document is quite specific, it has a strictly targeted purpose. It is intended for use exclusively when registering a marriage outside the republic. The type of this document and the requirements for it have been specified," the head of the department explained.
A representative of the relevant department explained that currently such a document is a certificate issued by the civil registry office. However, from January 1, 2025, this certificate will be replaced by a new document.
