The risk of illegal employment abroad and fraud against Belarusians

    09.02.2026
The «hotline» continues to receive inquiries from our citizens regarding employment, for example, in the UK through intermediaries located in a third country.

Inquiries are also received regarding employment in EU countries through intermediaries operating in one of the EU countries.

There are inquiries offering employment, for example, in Switzerland through an agency in the UAE.

These job offers are posted on social networks and do not guarantee legal employment. Scammers ask to pay for the agency's services into private accounts and ask for passport details якобы for coordination with the employer regarding the candidacy for the vacancy.

Be careful: human trafficking can start with false promises

The scheme for paying money from citizens of Belarus is almost identical: initially, they insist on paying for the services of the Embassy, якобы for opening a visa. Then clients describe how they sent large money transfers to scammers (up to 10 thousand Belarusian rubles).

When citizens of Belarus realize that the employment deadlines are being delayed and payments continue to be demanded, they ask for their money back. Scammers agree but additionally request to pay a bank commission of 10%. In other words, they want to get money from you again.

How to protect yourself from human trafficking

The basis for paying for the intermediary's services is the conclusion of a service agreement that clearly stipulates the rights and obligations of the parties, including payment for services. Payment is made only to the official account specified in the agreement. There is a high risk of losing money: the absence of a contract signed by both parties and voluntary payment to private accounts.

We recommend calling the hotline to get a free consultation on the rules for working abroad, the risks of illegal employment and falling into a situation related to human trafficking.

We are ready to answer your questions: how to avoid the risk of illegal employment abroad, where Belarusians can look for work abroad, how to find a job without experience, how to get a job abroad legally?

Calls and written inquiries are temporarily not being accepted. Use the information posted on our website!
