On September 24, 2013, the photo exhibition "Two Sides of Abroad" was opened in the main building of the Educational Institution "Brest State University named after A.S. Pushkin". This event was organized by the volunteer detachment "Elpis" within the framework of the project of the Public Organization "Club of Business Women" "Countering Human Trafficking with Gender Aspect among Students in Brest".
The photo exhibition aimed to draw young people's attention to current issues related to traveling abroad. Therefore, the exhibition displayed two aspects: positive experiences of traveling abroad (photographs of young people who had successful experiences of staying abroad for the purpose of studying, tourism, legal employment, etc.) and negative experiences resulting from hasty and thoughtless actions.
The volunteers approached the preparation of the photo exhibition creatively, using non-standard approaches: staged photographs were taken, reflecting the problem of human trafficking in its various manifestations, taking into account the gender aspect (labor exploitation, sexual exploitation, organ trafficking, child trafficking, etc.). At the opening of the photo exhibition, elements of improvisational theater were used: volunteers appeared in stage images of victims of trafficking and people who had successful experiences of traveling and staying abroad. During the event, there was positive and useful communication between volunteers and representatives of the media.
